Jennifer offers a unique combination of top-notch journalistic skills and insider knowledge of the legal and teaching professions. She holds an MA in Journalism from Sheffield University, distinctions in NCTJ media law and the coveted NCTJ NCE.

Her career has included a year as general news reporter for the Northants Evening Telegraph, a year reporting for The Malton and Ryedale Gazette and Herald and its sister paper, The York Press, blogging on education for The Guardian and writing on consumer finance for Moneymagpie.com.

Jennifer’s contacts book includes many MPs and politicians, top names from the legal world, media specialists and journalists.

Freelance Public Relations Consultant – Irwin Mitchell

Jennifer worked to improve media coverage at Irwin Mitchell, an innovative and vocal law firm with offices across the UK and in Spain. She worked with well known legal personalities and successfully placed articles in national publications such as the Evening Standard and the Guardian and on the BBC website. In addition to writing press releases and liasing with journalists, she analysed news coverage, responded to breaking news (such as the New York helicopter crash) and out-of-hours enquiries, worked closely with PR agency staff, provided in-house media training and updated the IMNewsroom website and Twitter feed.

Three days a week, Jennifer would head down to the West London offices of MoneyMagpie.com. Here she worked with television personality Jasmine Birtles; creating press releases, researching articles for national publications, fighting for consumer rights, writing web articles and improving her SEO skills. She also acted as Jasmine’s personal assistant, booking television appearances and speaking events, and helping to write scripts. Organising an event for 250 people at the London Skybar was a highlight.

Publicity Officer- Tees Solicitors

Jennifer was a one woman publicity department at Tees Solicitors, a legal firm with offices across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex. Focusing on marketing for AMC Law, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tees Solicitors, she wrote newsletters, proof read adverts, worked with solicitors to formulate the annual marketing plan, tweeted about legal news, applied for awards to generate good publicity and kept the website updated.

Publicity Intern- Granta Magazine

At Granta magazine, Jennifer created, designed and wrote an ‘Aliens’ tab on the Granta Facebook wall using FBML. The tab publicises the new issue of the magazine.

Education Blogger- The Guardian

In 2010, Jennifer wrote a series of articles and video reports for The Guardian, examining the popularity of teacher training courses for those facing redundancy as a result of the recession.
